MFRW

MFRW was founded in 1921 and has been a member of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW since 1938. MFRW currently has 28 clubs in the state of Maryland. MFRW started with a group of six activist women out of the City of Frederick, whose initial goals were organization, education, and legislation to repeal many of the old English laws still on the books that discriminated against women. That spirit of activism continues today. The clubs vigorously support literacy and advocacy programs, leadership development, free enterprise, and outreach. Members volunteer for campaigns, recruit and train candidates, raise money, and assist with voter registration. MFRW participates in Memorial Day, Flag Day, and Independence Day parades, and provides community service to women and children's shelters. Members tutor special students and sponsor scholarships and essay contests. Today, the MFRW is the largest, strongest and most organized group of voting women in the state of Maryland.
